Join a Committee

Make the biggest impact by joining a committee and actively supporting issues and matters affecting your businesses and the Aggregates Industry in the state of Oklahoma. We have five active committees ranging from advocacy to marketing; members can serve on more than one committee.

These are voluntary committees and their success depends on the dedication, commitment of their members.

Committees are formed annually during membership renewals (June). If you’d like to join mid-year, reach out to committee chairs directly using the contact information below or call (405) 524-7680.

GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS/ENVIRONMENTAL/SAFETY COMMITTEE

  • The Government Affairs Committee assists OKAA membership in understanding legislation and agency rulemaking that either directly or indirectly impacts our industry and individual company operations. Working closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Director, it coordinates OKAA’s response to such legislation and rulemaking. It also leads OKAA’s support of new legislation and rulemaking that would have a positive impact on the success of our members, and the health and safety of our workers.
  • The primary government entities with which the committee interacts include the Oklahoma State Legislature, Office of the Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of Energy and Environment, Department of Mines, Department of Environmental Quality, Water Resources Board, Oklahoma Geological Survey, and Oklahoma Tax Commission.
  • The Governmental Affairs Committee meets monthly during both the State and Federal Legislative Sessions; contact 2019-20 Chair Kermit Frank to join.

OUTREACH & BRANDING

  • OKAA’s Outreach & Branding Committee works to increase the use of natural and crushed aggregate and related products in existing market areas.
  • Its promotion activities are based upon direction and input from both producer and affiliate member companies. They are also coordinated with other related national and state construction industry trade associations. OKAA’s Annual Meeting Market Place Showroom provides an excellent forum for producers and affiliates to discuss and advance common marketing goals and ideas. The strong relationship between OKAA producer and affiliate members is one of the leading contributors to the association’s success.
  • The Outreach & Branding Committee meets monthly during both the State and Federal Legislative Sessions; contact 2019-20 Chair Katherine Carter to join.
