Committee Descriptions

Governmental Affairs/Environmental/Safety

This committee assists the membership in understanding legislation and/or opposing or supporting legislation and will work for enactment of legislation considered in the best interest of the association membership. This committee will also focus on environmental and safety issues and legislation from agencies (i.e., Departments of Environmental Quality, MSHA, etc.) that affect the members.

Industry Promotion and Marketing and Public Image

This purpose of this committee is to increase the use of natural and crushed aggregate and related products in existing market areas through an active promotion and marketing program. The main committee will be comprised of seven (7) members, two (2) from the aggregates industry, two (2) from the sand and gravel industry, two (2) from the industrial minerals industry, and one (1) from the dimension stone industry. Promotion activities will be based upon market interests of the association members.

In addition, this committee will assist industry, state civic groups, and others in promoting a positive public image.

Membership

The purpose of this committee is to actively promote membership in the association to producers, suppliers, and allied industries who are not currently members of OKAA.

Specification

The purpose of this committee is to work with the highway department on changes in the specifications for aggregates, and other building materials. It will serve as a liaison to other similar associations toward solving mutual problems and private contracting agencies or authorities.

Production

The purpose of this committee is to work on matters related to material production.
